Iron Isomaltoside Injection – Ferric Derisomaltose Injection
Iron Isomaltoside Injection (Ferric Derisomaltose Injection) is a next-generation intravenous iron complex used for the rapid correction of iron deficiency anaemia (IDA). It provides a high dose of iron in a single administration, replenishing depleted iron stores safely and effectively.
This formulation is specifically designed for patients who cannot tolerate or respond inadequately to oral iron therapy, especially in chronic kidney disease (CKD), postpartum anaemia, inflammatory bowel disease, and perioperative anaemia.
This injectable contains Iron Isomaltoside, a stable iron-carbohydrate complex that allows safe high-dose infusions, minimizes free iron-related side effects, and efficiently restores iron stores. It bypasses gastrointestinal absorption issues and is ideal for rapid correction of iron deficiency anemia.
- Iron Isomaltoside is indicated for the management of iron deficiency anemia due to chronic kidney disease, heavy menstrual bleeding (menorrhagia), chronic inflammatory conditions (e.g., IBD), malabsorption, or intolerance to oral iron therapy. It is also suitable for perioperative anemia and may be administered to pregnant or postpartum women under strict medical supervision.
- High single-dose infusion reduces hospital visits and improves patient comfort.
- Rapid improvement in hemoglobin and iron parameters compared to oral iron.
- Low immunogenic potential with a favorable safety profile.
- Can be administered without a test dose in most cases.
